"Fish tremble at the sound of my name" Idle Hours Fishing Resort is a cozy, self catering cottage resort, nestled in the trees on the south shore (the best shore) of Rice Lake - one of the finest fishing lakes in all Ontario. We're open from mid April to mid Nov. It's different here. There's a lazy kind of kicked back feel to our place where time passes slowly. Idle Hours. Very unbusy. We're right on the lake with plenty of room to breathe in the fresh lake air and enjoy sensational views of the sunsets from each of our five lakeside or waterfront cottages. Fisherfolks tell us that we've got the biggest and best trained fish around the lake but we think they're just flattering us. Maybe hoping for samples of Karol's baked goods Idle Hours may be out of the ordinary but it's not out of the way. We're about 1 ¼ hours east of Toronto and just 20 minutes off the highway. We've a clean safe and sandy beach where the kids can play, when they're not either swinging on our trademark tire swing' or horsing around with horseshoes and other games for free. There are fire pits for your pleasure, a fish house to clean and freeze your catch - and it's free. You can rent a boat or launch your own and we even sell tackle and bait, ice and pop and more.
